National Conference on Information Assurace-NCIA2010

Military College of Signals a premier institution and a constituent college of National University of Science and Technology organized a National Conference on Information Assurance – NCIA2010 on 10 August, 2010. The two days conference is to create Information Security awareness and exchange information at nation level regarding globally critical domain of Information Security and Information Assurance; among executives, professionals and users of information technology from academia, industry, military, government and corporate sectors.
NCIA was specially focused on recent development in information security technologies and the best management practices along with their applications to achieve optimally secure IT infrastructure and organizational performance. The forum also provided the participants a platform to learn about latest technological developments in the field of information security.
The conference was a multidimensional event focusing on collection of technical presentations given by researcher from academia. Tutorials were presented by 10 renowned speakers from industry and academia. Many national and international companies participated in the Information Assurance Expo of national importance with other collateral activities like conference workshops and post conference workshops.
Dr. Atta ur Rahman, founder and former chairman of HEC graced the occasion as chief guest. In his speech on 10th Aug 2010, he appreciated the role of Military College of Signals which has veritably emerged as icon in the fields of Information Security, Telecommunications and Software Engineering. He highlighted the Information Security as a national issue and asked the industrialist, academicians and the business community to come forward and get benefited from the young professionals who, he termed as harbingers of prosperity of this nation.
The conference was largely attended by scientist, representative of industries, business and academia. This helped a great deal in the formulation of new strategies for the futures. It helped in developing comprehension regarding organizational governance through the concept of Information Assurance and necessary skills for its gainful implementation. Furthermore, the event also provided an opportunity to academia and industry professionals as well as R&D community to discuss recent developments in the area of Information Security and Assurance and its impact on health care, e-Business, e-Government, financial sector and enterprise, public sector and private sector.
The Commandant, Maj General Shahid Maqbool HI(M), thanked Dr. Atta ur Rahman and participants of this Conference and expressed his hope that the relationship within stakeholders will enhance and new vistas will open.
