MIS Projects

MCS Information System (MIS) is envisaged to encompass a wide range of applications to bring a comprehensive change in the concept of using IT in training institutions of Pakistan Army as given in the tree below:

  • Electronic Mailing System (e-MS): e-MS is a software which has replaced paper-based mail and provides storage, retrieval, security and archiving of these electronic mails for MCS. e-MS handles approximately 400 to 500 mails daily alongwith minute sheets and circulars. e-MS also provides a comprehensive and detailed search mechanism, facility for external incoming/outgoing mails and inter-office notes. It has the ability to protect documents from loss and tampering. Moreover, no storage is required at the user end. MCS has spent exorbitant amount of Rupees 6 millions to upgrade and expand the IT access, services and facilities for students, faculty and staff.
  • Student Attendance Management System (SAMS): SAMS is aimed at formulating a fair and transparent sys to keep records of UG/PG students' attendance and provide online reports to concern authorities.
  • College Info Sys (CIS): This is a sys which uses the Pers Info Records to authenticate the users and assigns various kinds of permissions to them while they use the college intranet.
  • Tac Wing Automation: The project to entail online exams and submission of assignments for JSC/MCC course being run in Tac Wing has been implemented. Most essential exams like Aprc (Attk / Def) and Mil Paper will be conducted on the computer network. Whereas Comdt/CI Tests will be conducted as Computer Aided Tests (CATs). Moreover, the instr can upload asgs on the intranet and students in turn can submit their work online and due date can be given to system for collection of the asgs. This system has been introduced specially for the tactical courses to give Army Officers an exposure of IT environments.
  • Email@mcs.edu.pk. Now MCS faculty/staff/students are given a global email address on the mail server lying in the MIS Cell.
  • Alumni: An association of old students of the college was established in year 2003 named as Signalianz. Complete database of all graduates is being maintained and updated on regular basis by Alumni Office in the college. A website named http://www.signalianz.org by the old students has also been launched for better interaction and coordination between the students.
  • RIMS: The database containing detailed info about all the faculty/staff/students will be dev in near future. The hardware backbone is already laid.
  • Digital Library: A programme to provide the UG/PG/Doctoral students with access to international scholarly literature based on electronic (online) delivery, providing access to high quality, peer-reviewed journals, databases and articles across a wide range of disciplines through campus wide network access through IP.
  • Inventory Records: The database containing detailed info about all the eqpt on MCS inventory will be prep in near future. The hardware backbone is already laid.
  • Inventory Con Sys: In order to streamline the issue/receive, repair/maint and various other procedures concerning eqpt/stores Inventory Con Sys will be designed.
  • MCS Website: MCS website http://www.mcs.edu.pk is there on the internet. A lot more info is about to be added in the website after MI clearance.
