Department of Information Security

Mission

The Information Security department at Military College of Signals with its inherent strength of profound traditions and cherished history of being the 1st institute dealing with the information security, cryptology and cyber warfare at any Pakistani university, imparts education to post graduate and doctoral students while grooming them as able researchers, developing their skills in provision of cyber security and enabling them to guard against security.

Vision

The Information Security department at MCS is a profound institution for the concern of Armed forces, Government departments, Law Enforcement agencies, Banks etc. Tremendous development in the electronic technology has greatly facilitated the job of eavesdroppers, intruders and foreign intelligence agencies to break through the secure systems. To keep our nation in pace with the world, the faculty and administration is poised to turn the department into a centre of excellence while incorporating the specializations of Network, Computer and algorithm security. The department commits itself and all its resources to achieve the glory that is the aim of NUST and keep the flag of MCS up amongst the engineering institutions. It is envisioned to accelerate development with additional resources generated through short courses, workshops and seminars.

Objectives

The department commits itself to the achievement of objectives within the bounds provided by vision and goals of NUST. Major objectives set for the next five years are:- Graduate about 25 MS/Ph.D students each year. Establishment of Institution of Information Security at H-12, Islamabad Faculty Development by increasing the number of faculty members pursuing doctoral and postdoctoral studies.
