Department of Electrical Engineering
Mission
The department of Electrical Engineering at Military College of Signals with its
inherent strength of profound traditions and cherished history of being the 1st
Telecomm Engineering Department at any Pakistani university, imparts engineering
education to undergraduate, post graduate and doctoral students while grooming
them as able researchers, clear communicators and morally sound members of the
society.
Vision
The department of Electrical Engineering at MCS is a bed rock of Telecomm
Engineering and Electronics at NUST. The faculty and administration is poised to
turn the department into a centre of excellence while incorporating the
specializations of mobile, satellite and optical communication technologies. The
department commits itself and all its resources to achieve the glory that is the
aim of NUST and keep the flag of MCS up amongst the engineering institutions of
stature and grandeur. It is envisioned to accelerate development with additional
resources generated through short courses, workshops and seminars.
Objectives
The department commits itself to the achievement of objectives within the bounds
provided by vision and goals of NUST. Major objectives set for the next five
years are:-
- Increase in the intake of UG, PG and PhD students commensurate with the
development of Infrastructure.
- Establishment of new labs for research in emerging technologies.
- Establishment of Image Processing Research Centre.
- Establishment of Institution of Telecommunications at H-12.
- Enhancement in Faculty Development by increasing the number of faculty members
pursuing doctoral and postdoctoral studies.
- Enhancement of existing labs and development of MS lab, into an MS level
research lab.

- BE Electrical Engineering (Telecommunication)
- Duration: 4 YEARS
- Semesters: 8
- BE Electrical (Telecommunication) Engineering programme of Military College of Signals has been accredited with PEC upto intake of 2007
- Next visit of PEC team for accreditation is planned in April 2012
- MS Leading to Ph.D
- Duration MS: 78 Weeks
- Duration Ph.D: 3 Years (on campus)
- Semesters of MS: 5
Note: Direct admission to PhD
courses is offered to students / professionals holding MS degree from reputed
universities and who fulfill all pre-requisites.
